I was messing around with a photo of Micah from the other day when he got his Build-A-Bear. The original was nice enough, but I wasn’t pleased with its presence. So, I did a couple of level adjustment layers, changed their blending modes and tweaked the opacity a little (after I used the unsharp mask and a little high pass filter) and I kind of liked how it worked.

It looks great… a trick i do a lot is to add an adjustment layer with a 9-10 pix gaussian blur and change the blending mode of the adjustment layer to soft or hard light depending on the image and then adjust the opacity of the adjustment layer to fit the image. Just another tip for your bag of tricks.

Hey I know this bear. Micha introduced me to his bear this past Sunday in his classroom. Micha told me all about how he had built a cave for his bear in his room and how he loves his bear. Micha is so wonderfully fun and creative. He has so much energy and is passionate about everything he shares with us in his class. I love what you have done with this photo as the colors are vibrantly richer. Changing the background from fuzzy grass? to black really makes the image pop!

I love the picture! I have no idea what all the photoshop lingo means, but I still think the picture is great and that Micah is the cutest little guy ever!

What happens to my pictures is we add a layer of spilled coffee, pepsi, or any other high stainablilty drink, like Kool-Aid…. This adds a little something special to the look and feel of the photo. Not to mention the scratch and sniff effect. Especially coffee with flavored creamer. My favorite is pupmkin spice. It adds alot to almost any photo.

After looking at these pics, I’m definitely taking a photoshop class! Of course you have awesome subjects and a very artistic soul so they are great to begin with!
